The first phase of the reconstruction of the Uzbek National Puppet Theatre has been completed. The new interior concept, designed by Archattacka studio and the Imgineers workshop, continues the fairytale castle aesthetic originally established in the late 1970s by a team of architects led by Valery Kuzlyanov.

A key principle of the project has been the careful preservation of the theatre’s historic artistic features. During the restoration works, the sculptural panorama “Fairytale City” by Adelaide Pologova, the cast-iron doors of the main hall, historic lighting fixtures, the mechanical sculptural composition by Pavel Shimes, and the mosaic frieze on the building’s façade were all restored. Work is also ongoing to reconstruct the ceramic characters by Yuri Kim, which once decorated the fountains in front of the theatre.

In the next phase, the renewed spaces of the theatre will be enriched with themed rooms and niches, each filled with new fairytale narratives, becoming an integral part of the theatre’s continued development.
