Registan Square, one of the world’s most iconic historic landmarks, has once again become a stage of international significance.
On 8 June, Samarkand hosted a concert by John Legend, the globally acclaimed singer, songwriter, and recipient of Grammy, Oscar, Tony and Emmy awards. Organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the event marked another major cultural milestone and continued the series of international projects being brought to the country.
Against the magnificent backdrop of the Registan ensemble, music blending soul, jazz and contemporary pop created a unique atmosphere in which world-class artistry met Uzbekistan’s remarkable historical heritage.
Thousands of spectators filled the square, while hundreds of candles added to the evening’s unforgettable ambience. John Legend’s performance became yet another landmark event, reaffirming Registan’s status as a venue for cultural projects of global calibre.
