On 1 June 2026, the premiere of «Caliph Stork» will take place at the Uzbek National Puppet Theatre. The production has been realised on the initiative of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation and staged by director Roman Boklanov together with designer Alina Korytova.
Based on the classic fairy tale by Wilhelm Hauff, the production reimagines the story as a reflection on the search for freedom and the cost of solitude. The protagonist longs to gain wings and fly away — yet the path to true flight proves to be something entirely different. Magical transformations, 16 performers, more than 30 puppets, and an international creative team will create a richly layered stage world for audiences aged 6 and above.
The premiere will also mark the beginning of the theatre’s renewal and reconstruction programme, while preserving its historic artistic character.
