The Hermitage to open exhibition “Opening the Palace Chambers: Art at the Court of the Emir of Bukhara”

On 5 June, the State Hermitage Museum will open the exhibition “Opening the Palace Chambers: Art at the Court of the Emir of Bukhara”, organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation in collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum as part of the 2026 St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The exhibition will feature 67 museum objects from the collections of the Bukhara State Museum-Reserve, the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan, the State Museum of Applied Arts and History of Handicrafts of Uzbekistan, the State Museum of the History of the Timurids, as well as the State Hermitage Museum. The display will include works of decorative and applied art, jewellery, and items from palace life, revealing the artistic culture of the Emirate of Bukhara and the traditions of court life in Central Asia.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from 5 June to 4 October 2026.
