International tourism cooperation discussed in Tashkent
A joint meeting was held in Tashkent between Gayane Umerova, Head of the Department of Creative Economy and Tourism of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Akkulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, Secretary-General of UN Tourism, reflecting the country’s active foreign policy agenda in the field of tourism cooperation.
During the meeting, issues of sustainable development of the sector, expansion of cultural and event tourism, as well as strengthening of international partnerships were discussed. The results of reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at developing tourism infrastructure and creating new tourism offerings were noted.
It was emphasised that the development of the tourism sector is one of the priority areas of state policy, including within the framework of initiatives put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Uzbekistan Development Strategy until 2030, aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth and expanding international cooperation.
The parties also discussed prospects for joint initiatives, including educational projects, support for traditional crafts, and the introduction of digital solutions in the tourism sector. Following the meeting, readiness to further develop cooperation and implement joint projects was confirmed.
